Family History

In addition to the below, we hold many original documents in our catalogued archive. These include details of burials at Roade cemetery. We will be happy to check these additional resources for any information regarding your family - within limits, of course! ?

Resources on this web site

Below is a list of searchable tables on our web site that may contain information or references to your family or your ancestors. Click on a link below to be taken directly to that table, where you may then search on the surname of interest.
You can also use the search box below to search all of the resources below in one go to see where the surname of interest is listed (your name may be in more than one list!). Please note, however, that this will just show which of the lists below contain the surname you searched for. You'll need to then search each list individually to see the specific entries in the table that relate to your search.

Publications

Over the years, RLHS has published several volumes pertaining to the social history of our lovely village. Most of these contain names of individuals and families who lived in and around Roade.

Use the search box above to see if you or a member of your family or an ancestor may be mentioned or appear in a photograph in one of our publications: Roade Through the Camera or Cutting Remarks

These can be purchased online – please see our publications page.

Research

Our committee members have subscriptions to several genealogical websites and can undertake research for an agreed donation to the society.

We are also happy to advise on sources for, and methods of research.

Social Media

Our archivist administers four Facebook groups: - “Roade Remembered”, “Pianoforte Supplies Ltd”, “Roade Secondary Modern School” and “Towcester Grammar School”.

There are thousands of photos and memories on these groups, some of which do not appear on this website, so take the plunge and come and join us?!

Censuses

We hold details of the censuses from 1841 – 1921 for the village, and the 1939 register. Again, we can examine these for you, for a donation to the society.
